What is Torus Games?

Torus Games uses familiar games to introduce a less familiar idea: a space can be finite without having an edge. Jeff Weeks’s collection is designed for children aged 10 and up, as well as adults interested in topology, geometry and cosmology. Its purpose is visual exploration through play, rather than a formal mathematics course.

The publisher lists nine games: tic-tac-toe, mazes, crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, chess, pool, gomoku and apples. It also describes 3D mazes and 3D tic-tac-toe as further challenges after the two-dimensional games. The product page lists English and fourteen other language options.

This download is the publisher’s Windows ZIP archive, named TorusGames-5-6-2-Win.zip and labeled for Windows XP and later. Softonic lists version 5.10 and Windows 11, but that is not evidence that this particular Windows archive is version 5.10 or has been tested on Windows 11. The publisher’s macOS archive has a different version number. Treat the linked Windows package as the 5.6.2 archive identified by its filename; its architecture, release date and modern Windows behavior have not been established here.

The screenshot is the publisher’s example of the maze interface. It illustrates the game, not a verified capture of the linked Windows build. No software was installed or run for this entry.
