What is Ant Movie Catalog?
Ant Movie Catalog organizes a personal collection of movies on DVD, CD and tape. It keeps movie details and pictures in a catalog, with grouped lists, loan tracking and collection statistics. You can save catalogs in its own binary format or XML, then export lists to HTML, CSV or SQL for use elsewhere. Customizable print templates provide a paper alternative.
The application can import movie information through website-specific scripts and read technical details such as codecs, resolution and bitrate from media files. Those website integrations depend on scripts: the publisher notes that a broken script may have an update available before it reaches the installation package. This entry does not claim that individual website imports were tested.
The publisher lists version 4.2.3.3 with a program date of May 19, 2023 and a separately updated package dated November 8, 2025. The linked download is the complete Windows EXE installer; the publisher also offers a separate portable RAR package. The screenshot is the publisher's historical version 3.5.0 main window, showing the catalog and Find dialog, rather than a capture of the current download.
This is a legacy application maintained to keep it running, not an actively developed redesign. The publisher says it uses older tools and does not take advantage of newer Windows features. Keep backup copies of your AMC or XML catalog files, as the publisher recommends.
What it offers
- Store movie catalogs in the application's binary format or XML, with embedded pictures or links to external image files.
- Import movie information with website scripts and extract codec, bitrate, resolution and other details from media files.
- Track loans, view collection statistics and group the movie list by a chosen field.
- Export to HTML, CSV or SQL and print using customizable templates.
- Use an English interface or one of the publisher-listed translations.
Good to know
- Maintained to keep it running but not actively developed; its older tools do not take advantage of newer Windows features.
- Website information imports depend on scripts that may need separate updates when a source website changes.
