What is Blender?

Blender brings 3D modeling, sculpting, rigging, animation and rendering into one application. You can develop a scene from its geometry through animation and a finished render, with compositing, motion tracking and video editing available in the same suite. Its Python API also lets experienced users customize tools and workflows.

This entry links to Blender 5.2.3 LTS for Apple Silicon Macs, supplied as a DMG disk image. It requires macOS 13 Ventura or newer and at least 8 GB RAM; the publisher recommends 32 GB. This package is not for Intel Macs. Blender identifies 4.5 LTS as the last release supporting Intel Macs and macOS 11.2 Big Sur.

The screenshot illustrates the default workspace from the publisher's Blender 2.80 manual, not the current 5.2.3 release or a verified Mac capture. The manual describes the interface as consistent across platforms. It shows the 3D viewport, scene objects, properties and timeline so you can see the basic workspace structure.

What it offers

  • Build and refine 3D models with modeling and digital sculpting tools.
  • Rig and animate scenes, then render them with tools including Cycles.
  • Use compositing and camera or object motion tracking for visual-effects work.
  • Cut and splice video, mix audio and adjust color in the built-in video sequence editor.
  • Customize layouts, keyboard shortcuts and tools, including through the Python API.

Good to know

  • This 5.2.3 Mac package requires Apple Silicon and macOS 13 or newer; it does not support Intel Macs. The publisher lists 4.5 LTS as the last Intel-compatible release.
  • The publisher specifies at least 8 GB RAM and recommends 32 GB; GPU rendering in Cycles has additional hardware requirements.
