What is Downie?
Downie saves videos from supported websites for offline use on a Mac. Paste a video link into the app or send it from the Safari, Chrome or Firefox extension. The publisher lists support for YouTube, Vimeo, Youku and Dailymotion, along with other sites. Postprocessing can convert a download to MP4 or extract its audio, while iCloud history sync helps track downloads across Macs.
For sites without built-in support, User-Guided Extraction provides an in-app browser for locating a video. That does not guarantee every video will download: site changes can break support, and Softonic identifies DRM-protected content as unsupported. Use the app only for material you have permission to save.
The linked publisher DMG is offered with a free trial; Downie is not freeware. The publisher lists version 4.13.3 for macOS 13 or later and recommends macOS 15 or later. The screenshot shows a source-provided Mac interface, not a hands-on test or a confirmed view of this particular release.
