What is Exaile?
Exaile combines music playback with collection management. Tabbed playlists let you keep different listening queues open, while smart playlists use filtering and search to select tracks. Automatic album-art and lyrics fetching add context to your music, and internet radio provides another listening source. Plugins extend the player with features such as advanced track tagging, podcasts, ReplayGain and a secondary audio output.
The linked download is the publisher's Exaile 4.2.1 Windows EXE installer, released on December 14, 2025. It is a non-beta release, not a claim to be the newest available version. The publisher's Windows notes identify Windows 10 as a tested system; this entry does not establish Windows 11 compatibility or installer architecture.
Upgrading an older collection needs care: the 4.2 release notes describe a switch from Berkeley DB to SQLite. The old database module is still needed to migrate existing data, and Exaile can fail to start if that migration fails. The screenshot is an older Exaile interface supplied by Softonic, not a capture of this installer running.
