What is Harmony Assistant?
Harmony Assistant combines music notation, arrangement and playback in one application. Enter notes with a mouse, computer keyboard or MIDI keyboard, adjust the printed score in page and engraver modes, and hear the result through the included software synthesizer. Automatic accompaniments, drum patterns and tablature tools support arranging as well as writing a melody.
The publisher documents MIDI and audio-format exchange, including WAV, AIFF, MP3 and OGG, plus an embedded MyrScript language for extending the program. Virtual Singer is a separate add-on, not a singing feature included in the base license.
The trial has no time limit, but saving is disabled and printing is limited to one page until registration. The linked publisher-hosted DMG is version 9.9.2e, identified by the MacUpdate catalog, not the newer 2026H1e release announced on the publisher homepage. Its historical requirements list Mac OS X 10.7 or later and Intel processors; native Apple Silicon support and compatibility with current macOS releases have not been verified. The screenshot illustrates a historical interface, not a newly installed or tested copy.
