What is Kid3?
Kid3 edits the metadata stored in audio files so you can give an album consistent artist, title, year and genre information without entering the same values for every track. It supports MP3, FLAC, Ogg/Vorbis, MP4/AAC and other formats, with controls for individual tag frames as well as shared fields across selected files.
You can generate tags from filenames or rename files using their tags, import album information from MusicBrainz and Discogs, and export metadata as CSV or HTML. Embedded cover art and synchronized lyrics can also be edited in supported tag formats.
Tag support depends on the file format: not every field maps to every format, and the handbook specifically notes that Author and Performer may be unsupported in ASF/WMA. The linked 3.10.2 DMG is the Apple Silicon build; the publisher provides separate Intel and older-macOS Qt 5 packages. The screenshot is the publisher's macOS interface example, not a capture of this release running in our environment.
