What is Kid3 - Audio Tagger?
Kid3 edits the metadata stored in music files. Select several tracks to give them matching artist, album, year or genre values instead of typing the same details for each song. It supports MP3, FLAC, Ogg/Vorbis, MP4/AAC, Opus and other formats, with separate controls for ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags.
For a music collection with inconsistent names, Kid3 can generate tags from filenames or rename files using existing tags. Album-data imports from services such as MusicBrainz and Discogs provide another starting point, while CSV and HTML exports make tag information available outside the editor. A command-line interface and QML/JavaScript scripting support repeatable tagging tasks.
This download is the publisher's 64-bit Windows ZIP archive for version 3.10.2, not the separate Qt 5 package offered for Windows 7 and earlier. The screenshot is a historical Windows interface in Spanish; it illustrates the file list and tag panels, not the appearance of version 3.10.2.
What it offers
- Set shared artist, album, year and genre values across multiple audio files.
- Edit and convert ID3v1.1, ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4 tags; edit metadata in FLAC, Ogg/Vorbis, MP4/AAC, Opus and other supported formats.
- Generate tags from filenames, rename files and directories from tags, and create playlists.
- Import album data from MusicBrainz and Discogs, and export tag information as CSV or HTML.
- Automate tagging through the command-line interface or QML/JavaScript scripts.
Good to know
- Windows 7 and earlier require the separate Qt 5 build linked by the publisher; the download here is the standard 64-bit Windows archive.
