What is MusicBrainz Picard?
MusicBrainz Picard helps organize a local music collection by matching audio files to releases in the MusicBrainz database. You can cluster files into albums, look up existing tags or scan audio fingerprints with AcoustID when the tags are incomplete. The metadata pane lets you compare original values with proposed changes before saving.
Picard supports formats including MP3, FLAC, OGG, M4A, WMA and WAV. It can retrieve album artwork and use naming scripts to rename files and arrange them into folders. The linked download is the publisher’s 64-bit Windows installer for version 3.0.2; portable and Microsoft Store packages are separate choices.
Matching is not a substitute for checking the release and track order. The publisher’s guide warns that guesses can be wrong and recommends comparing the original and new values before saving. Picard 3 requires Windows 10 or later, and plugins written for Picard 2 need migration to the new plugin system.
