What is OpenToonz?
OpenToonz brings drawing, digital painting and scene compositing into one 2D animation workflow. It supports both raster and vector images, with an xsheet or timeline for arranging animation and a node-based effects interface for combining images. Palette colors are stored independently of painting data, so artists can work with provisional colors before settling on a final palette.
The project is published by Dwango and builds on Toonz, originally developed by Digital Video and customized by Studio Ghibli. OpenToonz can be used without charge for commercial and non-commercial projects; its source-code license and the publisher's installer terms are distinct.
This entry links to the Windows v1.8 installer selected on the official download page, not the nightly build. The publisher requires 64-bit Windows and lists at least 4 GB RAM and a 1280 × 1024 display. GTS scanning software and additional effects plug-ins have separate download links; do not assume this installer includes every companion tool.
