What is PaintTool SAI?
PaintTool SAI is a drawing and painting application for building illustrations with a digital pen. Brushes such as pen, airbrush and watercolor, adjustable brush pressure, layers and selection tools support sketching, coloring and finishing artwork. PSD and BMP export let you move finished work into another application.
The linked package is SYSTEMAX's English 32-bit full installer for Version 1.2.6-Beta.3, dated January 27, 2025. The publisher distributes it as a test version correcting a rare Version 1.2.5-and-earlier bug that could lose a saved file when another program accessed it during saving. It is not the separate Version 2 technical preview.
Version 1 focuses on painting rather than general photo editing: it does not offer direct printing or text and gradient insertion. Softonic describes a 31-day trial followed by a paid license.
