What is Plexamp?
Plexamp is a dedicated music player for a collection managed by Plex Media Server. On Mac, it gives that library a music-focused interface rather than a general media browser, with smart playlists and stations for choosing what to hear next. Gapless playback, loudness leveling and Sweet Fades help control the transitions between tracks; themes and visualizers change how the player looks.
The desktop app supports a wide layout with a library sidebar and player bar, plus a compact window. macOS-specific options include Menu Bar Mode and continued playback when the window is closed. The linked 4.50.20 package is for Apple Silicon; Plex lists a separate Intel DMG on its downloads page.
Plexamp is free to use, but your personal music needs Plex Media Server. Offline downloads and selected extras, including lyrics and the ten-band equalizer, require Plex Pass. The screenshot shows a historical Mac player-name setup screen, not the current release's playback layout.
