What is Plexamp?
Plexamp is a dedicated music player for listening to a collection managed by Plex Media Server. On Windows, it gives that library a music-focused interface rather than the broader movie and TV experience of the main Plex app. It suits listeners who already maintain a Plex music library or are willing to set one up.
The free feature set includes gapless playback, loudness leveling, Sweet Fades, pre-caching, smart playlists and stations. Visualizers, UltraBlur backgrounds and themes change how the player looks while you listen. Plex Pass adds features such as offline downloads, lyrics, mix builders and the ten-band equalizer.
This is not a standalone replacement for setting up your music library: playing your own collection requires Plex Media Server and a Plex account. The linked Windows EXE is version 4.12.3, the package exposed by the publisher's Windows catalog when checked; the catalog lists different versions for other desktop platforms.
