What is Podolski?
Podolski is a virtual analogue synthesizer plug-in for making sounds inside host software. Its sound engine combines one oscillator, a multimode filter, an envelope and two LFOs. WaveWarp morphs between waveforms, while the Click control emphasizes the filter attack. Start with one of the more than 300 factory presets or shape a patch using the synthesis controls.
A combined arpeggiator and 16-step sequencer adds repeating note patterns and modulation. Stereo delay and chorus/flanger provide built-in effects, and MIDI learn lets you assign hardware controls. The interface supports resizing from 70% to 200%.
This is not a standalone instrument: a compatible DAW is required. The publisher lists 64-bit AUv2 and VST3 for macOS, but this version has no Mac AAX plug-in for Pro Tools. The linked ZIP is the publisher’s macOS distribution of version 1.2.3, revision 12092; it is not the Windows or Linux package.
What it offers
- Shape sounds with a variable-symmetry oscillator, WaveWarp, a multimode filter, one envelope and two LFOs.
- Use up to 16 polyphonic voices, or choose mono, legato and arpeggiator modes.
- Build repeating patterns with the combined arpeggiator and 16-step sequencer.
- Add stereo delay and chorus/flanger; assign controllers through MIDI learn.
- Browse more than 300 factory presets and resize the interface from 70% to 200%.
Good to know
- Requires a compatible DAW host; it is not a standalone synthesizer application.
- Version 1.2.3 does not include an AAX plug-in for Pro Tools on Mac. The publisher directs users of non-native-Silicon Pro Tools to previous versions.
