What is Praat?
Praat is a free, open-source speech analysis program for studying phonetics. It brings spectral, pitch, formant and intensity analysis together with tools for annotating recordings, synthesizing speech and changing pitch or duration. Students and researchers can label intervals and time points on multiple tiers, then prepare graphics for publications.
Its scripting language supports repeated analysis tasks, and the publisher provides manuals and tutorials through the Help menus. The Windows download linked here is the x64(v3) ZIP archive: extract Praat.exe from the archive to a folder before using it. The publisher recommends this edition for x64 computers newer than approximately 2013; older x64 machines, ARM64 systems and 32-bit Windows need a different edition.
