What is Tux Paint?
Tux Paint gives children a canvas and a collection of drawing tools rather than a complex image-editing workspace. Brushes, rubber stamps, lines, shapes and text let them build pictures, while Magic effects add decorative strokes and transformations. Sound effects and the Tux penguin provide feedback as they work. The publisher describes it as a drawing program for ages 3 to 12.
Saved pictures appear as thumbnails, so children do not need to manage filenames to reopen their work. Pictures can also be exported outside Tux Paint. Before uninstalling the Android app, export any drawings you want to keep: the publisher warns that uninstalling may remove them unless Google backup services are in use.
This download is the publisher-linked 0.9.35 APK, build 9350, dated May 26, 2025, for Android 5 or later. It is a separate distribution from the 0.9.35-3 package listed on Softonic; the version here identifies the linked APK, not a claim that it is the newest Android release.
What it offers
- Draw with brushes, lines, filled or outlined shapes, and rubber stamps.
- Add text and labels or use Magic tools for special effects.
- Save and reopen drawings through thumbnail-based picture selection.
- Export pictures to keep a copy outside the app.
- Free of advertisements, with sound effects and a penguin mascot that gives hints.
Good to know
- Uninstalling the Android app may delete drawings unless Google backup services are in use; export pictures you want to retain first.
- The linked publisher APK is version 0.9.35 (9350), not the separate 0.9.35-3 distribution shown on Softonic.
