What is VLC for Android?
VLC for Android brings video and music playback to Android phones and tablets. It can open local files, browse folders and network shares, and play network streams, including HLS and DASH. Its media library keeps audio and video together, while embedded and external subtitle support and multi-track selection help with films that offer several languages.
For music, VLC includes an equalizer, filters and headset controls. Playback gestures adjust volume, brightness and seeking. The publisher also lists support for Android TV and Chromebooks.
The direct download here is the publisher-linked VLC 3.7.0 APK for ARM64 (arm64-v8a). Other CPU architectures have separate packages; this file is not a universal Android APK. Hardware decoding depends on the device, and VideoLAN notes that software decoding may be the only option on Android versions below 4.3.
