What is Wavosaur?

Wavosaur edits and records audio without an installer. Its waveform editor provides cut, copy, paste, trim, fades and level normalization, with multiple documents open in one session. It suits preparing individual sound files and sample loops: you can edit WAV loop points and markers, inspect a spectrum or sonogram, and apply a process to a whole folder.

VST effects can be chained in a rack, previewed in real time and saved for reuse. ASIO support and soundcard-input recording cover audio capture, while batch processing handles repeated conversions or effects across files.

This download is the publisher's English 64-bit ZIP package for version 1.8.0.0, dated May 20, 2023. A separate 32-bit package is available on the publisher's download page. Wavosaur is a Windows application, not a native macOS or Linux editor. The publisher's homepage lists legacy Windows versions but does not establish Windows 10 or 11 compatibility for this selected package; those versions have not been tested here.

What it offers

  • Cut, copy, paste, trim, normalize and fade audio in a multiple-document waveform editor.
  • Edit WAV loop points and markers for sample preparation.
  • Apply processing and VST effects to an entire folder with batch processing.
  • Chain VST effects and preview the processed audio in real time; record soundcard input with ASIO support.

Good to know

  • Windows-only native application; the publisher's Wine report is not a native Linux release.
  • Windows 10 and 11 compatibility for the selected 64-bit package is not established by the cited publisher pages and has not been tested here.
