Winamp for Windows
Play local music, build playlists and customize the player with skins in Winamp, the free legacy desktop music player for Windows.
What is Winamp?
Winamp is a desktop music player for listening to an existing collection of audio files on Windows. It combines playback controls with playlists and a media library, making it useful when you want to choose and arrange your own tracks rather than browse an on-demand music catalogue. Softonic lists support for formats including MP3, AAC and WAV, along with appearance customization through skins.
The classic interface separates playback, playlist and equalizer controls. The source gallery screenshot shows that older layout, including a ten-band equalizer and a playlist with track durations; it is an illustration of the legacy interface, not proof of the interface or version in the current download.
The download link comes from the publisher's Legacy Player option and redirects to its Windows EXE. The publisher presents this separately from its mobile apps. The link is an unversioned alias, so this entry does not assign Softonic's listed version to the downloaded file. Exact build, processor architecture and operating-system requirements were not established by the header check.
What it offers
- Play local audio files, including MP3, AAC and WAV formats listed by Softonic.
- Arrange tracks in playlists and organize a local music collection in the media library.
- Customize the player's appearance with skins.
- Use the classic playback, playlist and equalizer panels illustrated in the source gallery.
Good to know
- The publisher lists the legacy desktop player separately from its mobile apps; this download is the Windows EXE, not a mobile package.
- The unversioned download alias does not identify an exact build or processor architecture in the verified headers. The historical gallery image may differ from the downloaded build.
