What is XMedia Recode?

XMedia Recode converts video and audio into formats such as MP4, MKV, WebM and FLAC. Device profiles provide a starting point for preparing files for phones, tablets and consoles, while codec settings let you adjust the output yourself. Batch processing helps when several files need the same conversion.

Alongside conversion, it offers basic cutting, rotation and scaling, audio adjustments, soundtrack extraction and subtitle handling. It can also convert unprotected DVDs and Blu-rays, but it does not support copy-protected discs.

The linked download is the 64-bit EXE installer for Windows 10 and 11. The publisher lists a 64-bit Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable prerequisite. GPU-accelerated conversion depends on compatible hardware and drivers: the selected build lists Nvidia driver 610.00 or newer, AMD Adrenalin 26.5.1 or newer, or Intel Skylake or later with Intel HD or Arc graphics. A separate portable package is available from the publisher.

The publisher-provided screenshot shows the older 3.3.0.5 interface on its Format tab; it illustrates the application layout, not the exact appearance of version 3.6.4.1.

What it offers

  • Convert video and audio formats including MP4, MKV, WebM and FLAC, with device profiles and batch processing.
  • Cut, rotate and scale video, or adjust audio volume and sampling rate.
  • Extract a video's soundtrack as MP3 or M4A.
  • Add or extract subtitles, including SRT, ASS and SSA formats.
  • Use supported Nvidia, AMD or Intel hardware for GPU-accelerated conversion.

Good to know

  • Copy-protected DVDs and Blu-rays are not supported.
  • The selected 64-bit build targets Windows 10 and 11 and requires the publisher-listed 64-bit Visual C++ Redistributable; hardware acceleration has additional GPU and driver requirements.
