What is Yate?
Yate is a Mac audio tag editor for organizing the metadata stored in a music collection. It handles formats including MP3, FLAC, AAC, ALAC, AIFF, WAV and DSD files, so you can work with tags across different file types rather than only the formats accepted by one music player. Its editing tools also cover artwork and chapters in M4B audiobooks.
For larger collections, Yate offers batch processing and reusable scripts called actions. Discogs and MusicBrainz wizards can import metadata and artwork, while file-renaming tools help organize the files and their containing folders. Integration with Apple's Music, iTunes and TV applications provides another way to exchange library information.
The linked DMG is the publisher's version 10.0.2 download for macOS 10.14 or later, with native support for Intel and Apple silicon. Yate is not freeware: the publisher offers a 14-day trial without feature limitations and a paid license for continued use. Older Macs need a separate legacy download; those builds are listed as no longer receiving updates.
