What is 0 A.D.?
0 A.D.: Empires Ascendant puts city development and ancient warfare in the same match. Choose a civilization with its own units, buildings and technologies, develop your economy and raise an army. Citizen-soldiers can gather resources and construct buildings as well as fight, so assigning them to battle also changes who is available to work. The Atlas map editor lets you design landscapes and settlements rather than only play existing maps.
Release 28, named Boiorix, adds the Germans as a playable civilization and supports multiplayer through the lobby or a direct IP connection, including LAN play. It is the first release without the Alpha label, but the publisher still warns about bugs and lag with many moving units or very large maps.
The linked download is the 64-bit EXE installer for Windows 10 and 11; a separate 32-bit package is available from the publisher. Release 28 does not support Windows 7 or 8.1. Deactivate mods before upgrading to avoid conflicts with the new release.
