What is Angband?
Angband is a single-player dungeon exploration game built around developing one adventurer. Choose a race and class, buy supplies in town, then descend into randomly generated caverns to find treasure and fight monsters. Returning to town lets you replenish equipment before attempting deeper levels and, eventually, the battle with Morgoth.
The game offers both ASCII characters and graphical tiles. Its many commands, equipment choices and character systems demand some learning; the official manual specifically warns that newcomers may find it difficult to grasp at first. Death means starting another game rather than continuing the same adventure.
This entry links to the publisher's Angband 4.2.6 macOS DMG. The release page lists macOS 10.9 or later, but does not identify the package's processor architecture. The screenshot shows the project's ASCII gameplay, not a verified capture of this Mac build.
