What is Endless Sky?

Endless Sky puts you in command of a small spaceship in an open-ended galaxy. Earn credits by moving goods between worlds, transporting passengers or taking missions, then spend them on a better ship or new equipment. You can follow the story, work as a merchant or bounty hunter, or explore beyond human space.

Ship upgrades involve tradeoffs rather than simply buying every available part. Weapons, engines and other outfits compete for space, while energy use and heat affect how a modified ship performs. Combat is one route through the game, not the only way to earn a living.

This entry links to the publisher's Windows 64-bit EXE installer for version 0.11.2. The publisher also offers a separate 32-bit installer and ZIP packages. Graphics support matters: the versioned README recommends OpenGL 3.0 and says OpenGL 2.0 devices need custom shaders. The screenshot comes from the official gallery and illustrates the outfitter interface; its exact game version and capture operating system are not identified.

What it offers

  • Earn credits through commodity trading, passenger transport and missions.
  • Explore star systems, follow story missions or choose your own merchant, bounty-hunting or exploration goals.
  • Buy ships and customize weapons, engines, generators and other equipment.
  • Fight pirates and take part in faction conflicts.

Good to know

  • OpenGL 2.0 devices require custom shaders; the publisher recommends OpenGL 3.0.
  • Ship modifications must fit outfit, weapon and engine capacity limits, with energy and heat tradeoffs.
