What is Museum of All Things?

Museum of All Things is an educational exploration game that gives Wikipedia topics physical rooms. Walk through galleries lined with article text and images from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, then follow a hallway to a related subject. Search for a topic when you have something specific in mind, or browse the connections without a fixed route.

The Windows desktop release supports keyboard-and-mouse and controller controls. This entry links to the publisher's standard MuseumOfAllThings.exe for version 1.2.0, not the separate OpenXR executable. The VR build requires an OpenXR-compatible headset and runtime.

Exhibits are assembled from online sources rather than supplied as a complete offline collection. An internet connection and access to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons are needed to retrieve exhibit content; API rate limits can also affect loading. The museum presents material from those sources, not a separately curated encyclopedia.

What it offers

  • Explore procedurally generated 3D exhibits based on Wikipedia articles.
  • Read article text on wall plaques alongside Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons images.
  • Follow hallways to related exhibits derived from links in the current article.
  • Search for a topic instead of navigating only through connected rooms.
  • Navigate the desktop game with keyboard and mouse or a controller.

Good to know

  • Retrieving exhibits depends on internet access to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons; API rate limits can affect content loading.
  • The linked Windows executable is the non-VR build. VR requires the separate OpenXR build, a compatible headset and an OpenXR runtime.
