What is Omnitux?
Omnitux brings several kinds of educational play into one application. Its activities use pictures, sounds and text for association exercises, counting, puzzles, remembering cards and placing items on a map or diagram. It suits choosing a specific activity rather than working through a single continuous game.
The publisher lists seven interface languages, support for bitmap and SVG images, and fullscreen display. Activities are defined in XML files, so someone comfortable editing those files can modify the content or create activities without changing the program itself.
This entry links to the full Windows 1.2.0 EXE package. The publisher also offers a Light edition with the same activities but lower-quality pictures and sound; it is not a different activity set. The Windows package is old, and the available publisher pages do not establish Windows 10 or Windows 11 compatibility. No installer was downloaded or run for this entry.
What it offers
- Association exercises, counting, puzzles and memory-card activities using images, sounds and text.
- Activities for placing items on a map or diagram.
- XML activity definitions that can be edited without changing the program.
- Support for JPG, PNG and SVG images, with fullscreen display.
- Publisher-listed languages include English, German, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish.
Good to know
- Current Windows 10 and Windows 11 compatibility is not established by the available publisher pages; this 1.2.0 Windows package was not installed or tested.
- The Light edition reduces image and sound quality rather than the number of activities. Custom activities require editing XML files.
