What is OpenRA?

OpenRA rebuilds classic real-time strategy games on an open-source engine. Its three official mods cover Red Alert, Tiberian Dawn (the original Command & Conquer) and Dune 2000. It suits players who want these settings with integrated online multiplayer, modern screen resolutions and updated controls rather than emulation of the original executables.

Choose classic left-click or right-click controls, manage production queues with hotkeys, and use attack-move and unit stances. Replays and an observer interface help players revisit matches or watch others play. The engine also supports community mods and a Mod SDK for creating separate RTS projects.

This entry links to the Windows x64 EXE installer for release-20250330, not a playtest build. On first launch of a mod, OpenRA prompts you to download or copy the original game assets; those files have separate licensing from the GPLv3 engine. Gameplay and balance have changed from the original games, so this is not an unchanged reproduction. EA does not endorse or support OpenRA.
