What is Snood?

Snood is a launcher-based matching puzzle: aim a Snood at the board and connect three or more of the same kind to save them. Pieces left disconnected are saved too, making the position of a match as important as its size. Each launch raises the Danger Bar; when it fills, the board moves downward. A Snood reaching the bottom ends the game.

This entry covers the original Windows desktop trial exposed on the publisher’s Snood (The Original) page, not a promise that every feature of newer mobile or store editions is included. The publisher separately offers registration for $19.99. Its product page also advertises a Snood Network account, Game of the Day score comparisons and Fast mode; current availability of those online services has not been checked.

Compatibility needs care. The publisher’s FAQ discusses Snood 4.1 on Windows 8/8.1 and warns that display-scaling adjustments may be necessary. That is historical publisher guidance, not verification of this installer on Windows 10 or 11. The same FAQ documents registration and high-score saving problems when the preferences file is not writable. It recommends selecting a writable location through Preferences > Specify Preferences File Location. No installer was downloaded or run for this entry.

What it offers

  • Clear groups by connecting three or more Snoods of the same kind.
  • Save additional Snoods by disconnecting them from the remaining board.
  • Balance each shot against a Danger Bar that can push the board downward.
  • Choose a difficulty and view high scores from the original desktop interface.

Good to know

  • The publisher offers a free trial and paid registration; this is not presented as an unrestricted free desktop game.
  • Windows 10/11 support, CPU architecture and the selected installer’s exact build are not confirmed by the inspected publisher evidence.
  • Publisher support documents high-DPI aiming/performance issues and preferences-file permissions that can prevent registration or high scores from being saved.
