What is The Dark Mod?
The Dark Mod is a free first-person stealth game for players who prefer sneaking through shadowy environments to a direct fight. Inspired by the Thief series, it offers a library of missions rather than requiring the original Thief games or Doom 3. Missions can be downloaded through the game's New Mission menu, so you can choose another scenario without finding a separate game executable.
The Windows download linked here is a ZIP archive containing the official installer, not the complete game. Create a dedicated game folder, extract the archive, and run tdm_installer.exe to download and install the game files. The folder must be writable. The publisher's normal Windows instructions launch the installed game with TheDarkModx64.exe; a separate 32-bit option exists but is not recommended by the publisher.
The publisher identifies version 2.14 on its main page. The screenshots illustrate the game and its interface, not a verified capture of that release: the publisher's menu image visibly shows TDM 1.00. Neither installation nor gameplay was tested for this entry.
