What is VCMI?

VCMI recreates the Heroes of Might and Magic III engine so owners of the original game can play with interface improvements and community mods. It supports higher resolutions, a creature stack queue and expanded creature information. Its launcher handles configuration and downloads mods, including additions such as towns, creatures, heroes, artifacts and spells. A global lobby lets players arrange multiplayer games.

On Windows, the launcher can import data from the GOG offline installer or use an existing Heroes III Complete or Shadow of Death installation. VCMI is not a standalone free copy of Heroes III: the original game data must be obtained separately. The Steam HD Edition alone does not supply the required Complete or Shadow of Death files.

This entry links to the publisher's Windows x64 EXE installer. The verified link resolved to version 1.7.5 when checked; the publisher also offers separate x86 and ARM64 packages. The screenshot is a publisher-provided example of the siege interface, not proof of a local installation or a capture of this release.
