What is A1 Website Search Engine?
A1 Website Search Engine is a desktop tool for adding search to your own website. It crawls an online site or an offline copy, analyzes page text and internal links, and generates the index and search code you deploy. It is a site-search builder, not a general web search engine or a hosted search subscription.
Choose a JavaScript search frontend with an embedded index for browser-side searching, including offline websites, or a JavaScript frontend backed by PHP and a server-side data file. After building the search files, upload them to your web server. You can adjust the weight of page elements such as titles, headings and image alternative text, and customize how search results look. The PHP option needs a server that can run PHP; the generated files still need to be deployed to the site.
The publisher offers a fully functional 30-day evaluation, followed by a reduced free mode. Free mode can crawl up to 500 page URLs per website and include 75 pages in the search engine; the trial and paid edition have no fixed page limit in the publisher's comparison. The Mac download is a ZIP containing an application bundle. The publisher lists macOS 10.8 Mountain Lion or newer, but the current bundle's CPU architecture and compatibility with recent macOS releases or Apple silicon have not been verified here. The screenshot shows the publisher's older Mac version 7.7.0, not the current 12.0.2 interface.
