What is Altova Authentic?
Altova Authentic Desktop lets business users enter and edit structured XML or database content through document-style forms instead of working directly with markup. It fits teams whose editors need familiar formatting controls while the underlying content follows an XML schema or database structure. Entry helpers and real-time validation guide input, and supplied templates include DITA and DocBook.
Forms use designs created in Altova StyleVision. Portable XML Form (PXF) files can bundle schemas, XML documents and design files for distribution to authors. Depending on the supplied design and publishing components, content can be rendered as HTML, RTF, PDF or Word documents. Custom form design is therefore a separate StyleVision workflow, not something to assume is included in this editor.
This download is the English 64-bit Windows installer for Authentic Desktop Enterprise Edition 2026 Release 2. The evaluation lasts 30 days and requires a trial license requested through the application and delivered by email; continued use requires a purchased license. The screenshot illustrates an older interface from Softonic's 2017 listing, not a verified capture of the offered release. Authentic Browser is a separate discontinued plug-in whose final version was 2023; this entry covers the desktop application.
