What is aria2?
aria2 is a command-line download utility for people who want to control transfers from a terminal or automate them in scripts. It supports HTTP and HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, BitTorrent and Metalink, with multi-source and segmented downloading rather than a built-in graphical download manager. The selected download is the official Windows 64-bit ZIP for version 1.37.0.
Use aria2c with a file URL for an individual transfer, or supply a text file of URLs with the -i option for a list of downloads. BitTorrent support includes magnet links, selective downloads, DHT and peer exchange. Metalink adds file-verification information, while the JSON-RPC and XML-RPC interfaces let a separate application control an aria2 process.
Choose aria2 if terminal commands or scripting fit your workflow. A graphical interface requires a separate frontend; the Windows archive is not a graphical installer. The screenshot is an older Windows command-prompt example from Viifo, not a test of the linked 1.37.0 build. Minimum Windows version requirements for this specific archive were not established from the publisher sources inspected.
