What is Beyond Compare?
Beyond Compare helps you see what changed between two files or directory trees before deciding what to copy or edit. Use it to review source-code differences, reconcile working folders or compare images and tabular data. Text comparison includes syntax highlighting and rules for ignoring differences that do not matter to the task. Folder Sync provides a separate view for updating one location from another.
The Mac download is a ZIP archive for Beyond Compare 5.2.7, build 32913, released October 27, 2026. Version 5 requires macOS Monterey 12 or newer and includes native Apple silicon support. The same download contains Standard and Pro features for evaluation; the license you buy determines which features remain available.
Choose Pro if you need two- or three-way text and folder merging, built-in SFTP or supported cloud-storage connections. Standard covers the comparison tools but does not unlock those Pro features. This is commercial software with a 30-day trial, not a permanently free utility.
