What is Bruno?

Bruno is a desktop API client for building requests, inspecting responses and keeping API collections alongside your project. It supports REST, GraphQL, gRPC and WebSocket workflows. Collections live in local folders as text files, so a team can branch, review and merge changes through Git rather than rely on a separate cloud collection store.

Its local-first approach does not include built-in cloud sync: sharing collections requires your own file or version-control workflow. The project offers free, MIT-licensed open-source functionality alongside paid editions, so do not assume every commercial feature is included for free.

The linked package is Bruno 4.3.0 for Apple silicon Macs, distributed as an ARM64 DMG. Intel Macs have a separate x64 package on the publisher's release page. The screenshot is the publisher's macOS-style desktop illustration showing v3.0.0, not a capture of the linked 4.3.0 release.

What it offers

  • Create API requests and inspect responses in a desktop client.
  • Work with REST, GraphQL, gRPC and WebSocket APIs.
  • Store API collections locally as folders and plain-text files.
  • Review and share collection changes through Git.

Good to know

  • No built-in cloud sync; sharing collections relies on your own file or version-control workflow.
  • Some features belong to paid editions rather than the free open-source offering.
  • This download is ARM64 for Apple silicon; Intel Macs need the separate x64 package.
