What is Bruno?

Bruno is a desktop API client for working with REST, GraphQL, gRPC and WebSocket APIs. It keeps request collections as plain-text files on your computer, so you can store them beside application code and review changes through Git. It suits developers who want reusable API requests without moving their collections into a cloud workspace.

Collections are shared through files and version control rather than built-in cloud syncing. Teams therefore need to manage their own sharing workflow. Bruno has free, open-source desktop functionality as well as paid features; the publisher's terms distinguish the unpaid MIT-licensed portions from subscription-based paid portions.

The selected download is the publisher-linked Windows x64 EXE for version 4.3.0. ARM64 and other package formats are separate choices on the publisher's catalog. The screenshot illustrates Bruno's cross-platform desktop interface, with macOS window controls and version 4.1.0 visible; it is not a capture of this Windows installer or proof that the package was run.

What it offers

  • Work with REST, GraphQL, gRPC and WebSocket APIs in a desktop client.
  • Store API collections locally as human-readable text files.
  • Branch, compare, review and merge collection changes through Git.
  • Manage local collections without a cloud-sync account.

Good to know

  • No built-in cloud syncing for collections; sharing relies on files or a version-control workflow.
  • Some functionality is paid; the publisher licenses unpaid desktop portions separately from subscription-based paid portions.
