Third-party package linked by the publisher. Tahoe is expected to work but untested by the packager. Intel x86_64 is a separate release asset; the broad README OS range is not an ARM64 minimum-version guarantee.

What is CherryTree?
CherryTree keeps notes in a hierarchy of nodes and subnodes, so a project outline can sit beside detailed research, formatted text and code examples. Rich-text notes support images, links, simple tables, lists and embedded files. Syntax highlighting and codeboxes make it useful for keeping technical reference material alongside ordinary notes. Documents can be stored in a single XML or SQLite file, or in multiple files and directories.
You can search across nodes and export selected notes or a whole tree to HTML or plain text, or print to PDF. Password protection is available only for single-file documents. The publisher warns that opening a protected document extracts an unprotected temporary copy, which is removed when CherryTree closes.
The download here is René de Hesselle’s third-party macOS package, linked by the CherryTree publisher: version 1.7.1+88 for Apple silicon (ARM64). A separate Intel x86_64 DMG is listed on the same release page. The packaging README lists support from High Sierra through Sequoia and describes Tahoe as expected to work but untested; it does not provide an architecture-specific minimum macOS version. The gallery image illustrates an older Linux-style CherryTree interface, not this Mac release.
What it offers
- Arrange notes in a drag-and-drop hierarchy of nodes and subnodes.
- Combine rich text with images, hyperlinks, lists, simple tables and embedded files.
- Keep syntax-highlighted code notes and codeboxes alongside formatted text.
- Search within a node, its subnodes or all nodes, and export to HTML, plain text or PDF through printing.
- Store documents as a single XML or SQLite file, or as multiple files and directories.
Good to know
- Password protection is limited to single-file storage; an unprotected temporary copy exists while a protected document is open.
- This third-party DMG is for Apple silicon (ARM64); Intel Macs need the separate x86_64 asset on the release page.
- The macOS packaging project describes Tahoe compatibility as expected but untested. Its README does not specify a separate minimum OS version for the ARM64 package.
