What is Compás?
Compás combines timed focus blocks with an open-ended stopwatch for work or study. Use Pomodoro when you want a defined work interval, or switch to Cronómetro when a task needs flexible timing. The starting cycle is 25 minutes of focus, five minutes of rest and a 15-minute break after four completed blocks; durations and cycle length are configurable. Breaks and new blocks start manually rather than moving you into the next session automatically.
Work records stay on your Mac without an account or subscription. The publisher documents daily history, a seven-day view, daily goals and all-time totals. Active time from partial blocks is retained, while breaks are excluded. Daily totals can be exported as CSV, and full session data as JSON. JSON export is not a restore workflow: there is no backup-import interface yet.
In version 1.0.1, closing the window with the red button leaves the timer running. Reopen it from the Dock to return to the session; quitting with Command-Q or putting the Mac to sleep pauses timing. These behaviors are documented by the publisher, not independently tested here.
The linked DMG is the arm64 release for Apple Silicon Macs, not an Intel or universal package. The publisher has not specified a minimum macOS version in the reviewed documentation. The app is signed ad hoc but not Apple-notarized, so macOS may request approval at first launch. Its interface is currently Spanish, and its local history is not encrypted by the app.
What it offers
- Choose configurable Pomodoro focus-and-break cycles or an open-ended stopwatch.
- Review local session history, daily goals, seven-day activity and all-time work totals without an account or internet connection.
- Keep active time from partial work blocks while excluding breaks from work totals.
- Export daily totals as CSV or full session records as JSON.
- Keep timing with the window hidden; reopen from the Dock to return to the running session.
Good to know
- The interface is currently Spanish; an English interface is not documented as available.
- The selected arm64 DMG targets Apple Silicon. Intel builds are not part of the publisher's tested release, and the reviewed documentation does not specify a minimum macOS version.
- The app is signed ad hoc, without Apple notarization; macOS may require first-launch approval. No independent security assessment is claimed.
- JSON backups cannot be imported through the app yet, and local history is not encrypted by the app.
- Quitting the app or putting the Mac to sleep pauses the timer; each new block or break starts manually.
