What is CrystalDiskMark?

CrystalDiskMark measures storage performance through sequential and random read, write and mixed workloads. Its Peak and Real World modes provide different measurement profiles, while language and theme options change how the results are presented. It suits checking a drive's performance under a chosen workload rather than treating one result as a universal speed rating.

Results depend on test-file size and position, fragmentation, the storage controller and CPU speed. The publisher warns that benchmarking may shorten SSD or USB-memory life and that results from different major versions are not compatible. The download here is the Standard Edition 9.0.3 Windows EXE installer; a separate ZIP edition is available from the publisher. The gallery image shows the older 8.0.0 interface, not a benchmark performed for this entry.

What it offers

  • Network drives are not displayed when CrystalDiskMark runs with administrator rights.
