What is CudaText?

CudaText is a text and source-code editor for working with scripts, configuration files and web code. Its tabbed interface combines syntax highlighting, code folding, regular-expression search and multiple carets, so you can navigate a file or change several selections together. Split views let you compare editing areas, while a command palette provides fuzzy command search.

The publisher lists HTML/CSS completion among built-in features and offers tools such as project management, linters and LSP support through plugins. On macOS, the Python engine is not included: install Python from python.org if you want to use plugins. Code-tree support also depends on the selected lexer.

This download is the Intel amd64 macOS ZIP named 1.237.2.0 in the publisher's SourceForge 1.237.3.0 folder; Apple Silicon has a separate package. The screenshot is the publisher's cross-platform editor illustration captured on Windows, not a capture of the Mac build or a claim about this package's exact appearance.

What it offers

  • Syntax highlighting, code folding and lexer-dependent code trees.
  • Multiple carets and selections for editing several places at once.
  • Regular-expression find and replace, tab groups and split views.
  • Fuzzy command palette, minimap and customizable keyboard shortcuts.
  • Built-in HTML/CSS completion, with Python add-ons for project tools, linters and LSP support.

Good to know

  • The macOS package does not include the Python engine; plugins require a separate Python installation from python.org.
  • Code-tree availability depends on the lexer; project management, linters and LSP support are plugin-based rather than all built in.
