What is DB Browser for SQLite?

DB Browser for SQLite is a visual editor for SQLite database files. Use it to inspect a database's tables, search and change records, or build tables and indexes through graphical controls. Its spreadsheet-like browser handles everyday record editing, while the SQL query facility lets you run statements and inspect their results.

CSV import and export help move table data between a database and other tools; SQL dump import and export work with whole databases. You can also compact database files and plot simple graphs from table or query data. Despite the grid interface, the publisher explicitly says DB Browser for SQLite is not a replacement for a spreadsheet application.

The linked version 3.13.1 is a universal macOS DMG for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The release README lists macOS 10.15 Catalina through 14.0 Sonoma; it does not establish compatibility with newer macOS releases.

What it offers

  • Create and modify tables and indexes through graphical controls.
  • Browse, search, add, edit and delete database records.
  • Run SQL queries, inspect results and view a log of issued SQL commands.
  • Import and export tables as CSV files and databases as SQL dumps.
  • Compact database files and plot simple graphs from table or query data.

Good to know

  • The spreadsheet-like interface is a database frontend, not a replacement for a spreadsheet application.
  • The release README documents macOS 10.15 through 14.0; compatibility with newer macOS versions is not established by that source.
