What is Digital Logic Design?
Digital Logic Design is a circuit-design and simulation tool for students, teachers and electronics hobbyists. Build combinational or sequential circuits from gates and flip-flops, connect their pins with tracks, and observe the results through LEDs, seven-segment displays or oscilloscope probes. The publisher also documents generating custom ICs from Boolean expressions in sum-of-products form.
A completed circuit can become a reusable module for a larger design. Module instances are independent: editing the original module does not update copies already placed in a circuit. Those instances must be replaced manually when you want the revised design.
The publisher labels the software V2.0 and supplies a portable ZIP through SourceForge. Its installation guide describes extracting the archive and running DLD.jar with Java; it specifies JDK 1.7 or above. Softonic's older Windows listing still describes version 1 and Windows 2003, so it does not establish Windows 10 or 11 compatibility for the publisher's package. The screenshot shows the oscilloscope in that older listing, not a verified capture of V2.0.
What it offers
- Build combinational and sequential circuits using logic gates and flip-flops.
- Convert circuits into reusable IC modules for larger designs.
- Generate custom ICs from Boolean expressions in sum-of-products form.
- Observe circuit outputs with LEDs, seven-segment displays and a digital oscilloscope.
- Save oscilloscope signal data and configure recording triggers.
Good to know
- Requires Java: the publisher's guide specifies JDK 1.7 or above rather than a self-contained Windows executable.
- Changes to a module do not propagate to instances already used in a circuit; replace those instances manually.
- Windows 10 and 11 compatibility is not established by the consulted documentation; Softonic lists version 1 for Windows 2003.
