What is DipTrace?
DipTrace connects schematic capture, PCB layout and component-library editing in one electronics-design workflow. Convert a circuit schematic into a board, place components, route connections and compare the finished layout against the source schematic. Its PCB tools include push-and-shove routing, interactive editing, differential-pair routing and length matching.
Design rules cover clearances, trace widths and net-class settings, with real-time checks during layout. A 3D board preview and STEP or VRML export help with mechanical design, while Gerber, Excellon drill, ODB++ and IPC-2581C outputs prepare design data for manufacturing. These are publisher-described capabilities, not results from running the software.
The linked Windows x64 installer is the full-featured 30-day trial, not an unrestricted free license. A separate Freeware edition is limited to 300 pins and two signal layers and is for non-profit use only. The publisher says installation packages do not include the separately downloadable 3D-model library. The screenshot shows a source-provided PCB Layout interface example; it does not establish the appearance of build 5.3.5.1.
What it offers
- Convert schematics to PCB layouts, update the board and back-annotate changes.
- Route and edit boards with push-and-shove assistance and configurable design rules.
- Route differential pairs and tune connection lengths for high-speed designs.
- Preview boards in 3D and export STEP or VRML files for mechanical CAD.
- Export Gerber, Excellon drill, ODB++ and IPC-2581C manufacturing data.
Good to know
- The selected download is a 30-day trial; continued licensed use requires an appropriate edition.
- The separate Freeware edition permits non-profit use only and is limited to 300 pins and two signal layers.
- Installation packages do not include the 3D-model library; obtain it separately from the publisher if needed.
