What is Dukto?
Dukto is a local-network file transfer tool for moving files and folders between computers without setting up a server or using an internet connection for the transfer. Start Dukto on both devices, let it discover other running clients and drag files or folders onto its window. It is intended for LAN transfers rather than sending files to someone over the internet.
Beyond files, Dukto can send text snippets such as URLs. A transfer log helps you review activity, and received files can be opened from the application. Its IP connection page shows your device's IP addresses. The Windows installer linked here is the original publisher's R6 desktop package; the publisher also lists a separate portable ZIP.
The developer explicitly states that Dukto is no longer maintained and will receive no support, security updates or bug fixes. The publisher's Windows XP-or-later requirement is historical, not a guarantee for current Windows builds. No installation, transfer-speed or current compatibility test was performed for this entry.
What it offers
- Discover other Dukto clients on the local network automatically.
- Drag and drop multiple files and folders to transfer them between devices running Dukto.
- Send text snippets, including URLs, to another device.
- Review the transfer log and open received files from the application.
- View local IP addresses on the IP connection page.
Good to know
- No longer maintained: the original developer provides no support, security updates or bug fixes.
- Designed for local-network use, with Dukto running on both devices; it is not an internet file-sharing service.
- The publisher's Windows XP-or-later requirement is historical. Current Windows build compatibility and the installer architecture are not established by the retained evidence.
