What is Duplicate Photo Cleaner?

Duplicate Photo Cleaner is a photo-focused duplicate finder from WebMinds. It compares image content to help locate identical images as well as resized or edited variations, rather than relying only on file names. Add photo folders, run a scan and review grouped matches before selecting files to move or delete. Its Multiviewer provides side-by-side comparison for deciding which shots to keep.

For a collection with both exact copies and similar shots, the publisher recommends starting at a 100% similarity threshold, then scanning smaller folders at a lower threshold to review variations. Folder Comparison offers a different workflow: photos in source folders are treated as originals and compared with target folders. The Ignore List can exclude intentional backup copies from scans.

This is commercial software with a free trial, not an unrestricted free cleaner. The trial offers unlimited scanning but deletion is limited to 10 duplicate groups. Image-format availability also depends on installed operating-system codecs. The download below is the publisher-linked Windows EXE installer; the version shown is the release listed on its official history page, not a version measured by running the installer.

What it offers

  • Compare image content to find duplicate and similar photos, including resized and edited copies.
  • Review grouped matches and compare photos side by side in Multiviewer.
  • Use Folder Comparison to compare target folders against designated source originals.
  • Exclude intentional backup folders with the Ignore List.
  • Adjust the similarity threshold; the publisher specifies 100% for exact-duplicate searches.

Good to know

  • The free trial scans without a limit but deletes only up to 10 duplicate groups.
  • Designed for images, not general duplicate documents, music or video.
  • Available image formats depend on the codecs installed in the operating system.

Check cumulative selection before deleting

The publisher’s Settings screenshot highlights Cumulative selection. When it is enabled, each automatic selection adds to the previous one rather than replacing it. Choosing duplicates and then originals can therefore leave both selected. Check the selected files before using a delete command; leave this setting off when you want a new automatic selection to replace the previous one.

The screenshot is a publisher-supplied Windows Settings example, not a capture from an installation performed for this entry. It shows the General tab and the publisher’s original red annotation.
