What is Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor?
Elcomsoft Wireless Security Auditor helps administrators assess the password strength of Wi-Fi networks they own or are authorized to audit. It checks WPA/WPA2-PSK passwords using dictionary attacks with configurable word mutations and brute-force attacks, with GPU acceleration on supported hardware. It can analyze imported network captures offline; the Professional edition also includes wireless sniffing with compatible adapters and drivers.
The trial is useful for examining the product but is not a full password-recovery or capture edition: it displays only the first two password characters, disables wireless sniffing and limits processing to two CPU cores and one GPU. Imported tcpdump data must contain at least one handshake packet. A password that survives a chosen audit is not a guarantee that the network is secure.
The publisher lists version 7.51.876 and supplies the Windows trial as an MSI installer. Its system-requirements list covers older Windows releases through Windows 8.1, while separate driver notes explicitly include Windows 10. The inspected page does not establish Windows 11 compatibility or identify the MSI's architecture; confirm those requirements with the publisher before deploying it on a current workstation.

- A usable imported tcpdump capture must contain at least one handshake packet.
- The inspected publisher page does not establish Windows 11 compatibility or specify the MSI architecture.
