What is File Scavenger?
File Scavenger is a Windows data recovery utility for finding deleted files and files on corrupted, reformatted or deleted volumes. It scans hard disks, SSDs and removable storage, with support for NTFS, FAT, exFAT, ReFS and other file systems. Quick and Long scan modes offer different ways to search, while a folder tree and file list help you select what to save.
The demo lets you scan for lost files and preview pictures before buying a license. It saves only the first 64 kilobytes of each file, so a larger recovered file may not open or may be incomplete. Recovery also depends on the original data not having been overwritten; finding a filename does not establish that its contents are intact.
This entry links to QueTek’s version 7.1 64-bit Windows EXE. Linux and macOS file-system support does not mean native Linux or Mac applications: those drives must be connected to a Windows computer running File Scavenger. Some advanced functions, including RAID and virtual-disk features, require a Premium or Professional license.
