What is Fluent Reader?

Fluent Reader gathers RSS articles in a desktop reader with a Fluent Design-inspired interface and light and dark themes. It suits following several publications in one place: group subscriptions, filter articles by read status and open stories in the built-in article view or their webpages. OPML import and export help move a subscription list between readers, while full application backup and restoration cover more than the feed list alone.

You can read locally or connect to supported services such as Inoreader, Feedbin, The Old Reader and BazQux Reader, including self-hosted services compatible with the Fever or Google Reader API. Regular-expression search and rules let you find articles or automatically hide, star and mark incoming items as read. Service compatibility is specific, not a promise to sync with every RSS provider.

The linked download is the publisher's Windows x64 EXE installer for version 1.3.2. The publisher dropped 32-bit x86 support in version 1.3.0. Its README also describes a Microsoft Store installation route with auto-updates and experimental ARM64 support; those Store-specific benefits should not be assumed for this direct x64 installer. The screenshot is an older publisher illustration of the interface, not a capture of version 1.3.2 or evidence of hands-on testing.

What it offers

  • Organize RSS subscriptions with folder-like groups and switch between light and dark themes.
  • Import and export OPML subscription lists, with full application data backup and restoration also supported.
  • Read through the built-in article view or load the original webpage.
  • Search articles with regular expressions, filter by read status and automate hide, read and star actions with rules.
  • Read locally or sync with supported hosted and self-hosted RSS services.

Good to know

  • 32-bit x86 support was removed in version 1.3.0; this download is an x64 installer, not an ARM64 package.
  • RSS service sync depends on the supported providers or compatible Fever/Google Reader APIs; not every provider is supported.
  • The exact minimum Windows version for the 1.3.2 installer was not established by the inspected release notes.
