What is FreeCommander?
FreeCommander XE is a Windows file manager for working with folders in two panes instead of switching between separate Explorer windows. Arrange the panes horizontally or vertically, keep locations in tabs and use optional folder trees to navigate. Folder comparison and synchronization, duplicate searching and a multi-rename tool help organize collections of files. Its built-in viewer opens text, hex, binary and image views, including views inside archives.
This download is the publisher's 2026 Build 941 public 32-bit setup package, supplied in a ZIP archive. ZIP reading and writing are built in; other archive formats such as RAR and 7z use plugins. The publisher lists SFTP only for the separate 64-bit edition, so it is not included in this 32-bit download. Private users can use the 32-bit edition without a time limit; commercial users have a 30-day testing period and then need a valid 64-bit license.
What it offers
- Work with horizontal or vertical file panes, tabs and optional folder trees.
- Compare and synchronize folders, search for duplicates and rename multiple files.
- View files as text, hex, binary or images, including inside archives.
- Read and write ZIP archives; extend other archive-format support through plugins.
- Create and verify MD5 and SHA checksums.
Good to know
- The 32-bit edition is free for private use; commercial use after the 30-day testing period requires a valid 64-bit license.
- SFTP is available only in the separate 64-bit edition, not in this 32-bit package.
- The setup program does not work on Windows XP or Vista; the publisher directs those users to its separate portable version.
