What is GanttProject?
GanttProject turns a project plan into a task hierarchy and a Gantt chart. Set task durations, link dependent work, mark milestones and assign people to tasks to see how the schedule and resource load fit together. It works offline with project files stored locally, making it useful for individual planners and small or medium teams that prefer a desktop tool.
The application includes baselines, task cost calculations and a PERT chart view. Export plans to PDF, HTML or PNG, or exchange data through CSV and Microsoft Project formats. It imports MPX, MPP and XML/MSPDI files, but Microsoft Project export is XML/MSPDI rather than MPP; interchange depends on the features used in the source plan.
This download is the Windows EXE installer for 3.3.3316, with Java Runtime 17.0.14 bundled. The publisher lists 3.3.3320 as a subsequent maintenance update delivered through the application update channel, not a separate complete distribution. The screenshot is a historical Windows interface example, not a verified capture of this installer version.
GanttProject is intended for schedules measured in days or weeks, not hour-by-hour task planning. It is not a full enterprise portfolio-management suite. The desktop application is free under GPL-3.0; the optional GanttProject Cloud collaboration service is a separate paid offering.
